Delusion or belief?

Don't look down too much on a delusion, because a delusion is a private belief, as belief is a collective delusion.
There is no difference.
Both aren't provable. All contrary arguments will be set aside.
They believe in an irrational way, with absolute confidence. Apperently, a human being needs this. But whether it is a delusion or a belief, that makes no difference. The only question is, is it beneficial? That's the point. If a delusion is beneficial, you can call it a belief. If belief is not beneficial, you better can let it be a delusion.

Thieu Wertenbroek ( theoretical physicist and physician-psychatrist, in a radio interview in 1996, about "Delusion and reality").

I have listened to this interview (I had it on a tape) and wondered: "What does he exactly mean with his statement?"
It is something to think about!

Keep alive
Aleke.
